On 16.08.2012 Thursday at 06.30pm Swamimalai Near Papurajapuram Palivasal to celebrate Ramalan Nonbu Thirapu Funtion. To Celebrate Chief Guest Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Mr.Sakotai Anbalagan.

Our Club President MJF Ln P.R. Kesavan, Secretary Ln.R.K.Ashokkumar, Treasurer Ln R.Ramachandran Presided over the function and Lions Club of Kumbakonam Host, Club Members Kasi Balasubranmaniyan, President Ramadurai, Srinivasan welcomed the gathering. Independence Day Function

66th Independence day celebration of Lions club of Swamimalai was celebrated at Swamimalai Government Hr. Sec School at Swamimalai. Our club President MJF Lion P.R.Kesavan  hoisted the National flag at the function and delivered special address about the struggle and importance of Independence Day to the school children. Sweets are distributed to students, prizes were also given to the students who won in various competitions held on the Independence Day Function to wined 27 Students Distributed Prizes.Panchayat President Rtn. Deva Rathakrishna Sthapathi  Presided over the function and Head Master of the school Mr. S. Arumugam, M.A., B.Ed., M.Phil., welcomed the gathering. Road Safety Awareness

Spreading Awareness among People on Road Safety

On 05.08.2012,
Swamimalai Police Inspector personnel here in association with the Lions Club of Swamimalai launched a campaign on Sunday to affix bull’s eye stickers on the headlights of vehicles and spread awareness among people on road safety.
A team of personnel and volunteers from the club affixed the stickers and distributed handbills carrying information on road safety.
Action
The personnel said the government had made it mandatory for vehicle users to have bull’s eye stickers on the headlamps.
Stern action would be initiated against those found driving vehicles without the stickers.
The dazzling headlights were one of the main reasons for many head-on collisions especially on the highways. The effect of the headlights would be very minimal if the vehicles had a bull’s eye, the personnel said.
The vehicle users were also advised to use high and low beam, especially when a vehicle approached from the opposite direction. A majority of the vehicle users were not following this rule, police officials pointed out.
Appeal
The personnel and volunteers also appealed to the vehicle users to avoid talking on mobile phones while driving. Violations such as haphazard parking of vehicles, signal jumping and drunken driving would be dealt with seriously, they said.
The police said that they would conduct more programmes as part of the campaign to increase the level of awareness among people on traffic rules.
